Why I Threw a Book Across a Teriyaki Restaurant

I once threw a book across a teriyaki restaurant.

A brilliant young professional I'll call Ted asked me to help him with time management. He showed up to our first lunch with a time management book. Great conversation. He picked one idea to try.

Two weeks later, he showed to our meeting up with a different book. No sign he'd tried the first idea. This happened two more times.

At lunch number four, he proudly held up yet another book. I took it, looked it over, tossed the book across the floor and said, "Ted! You don't need another book. You need to pick ONE and start doing it."

I'm not proud of the floor part. But I stand by the point.

Most of us don't have a knowledge problem. We have a doing problem. Knowing isn't growing.

What's one thing you already know you should be doing that you've been waiting to "learn more" about first?
